Maddie and Darrow are both 7th years and Maddie is incredibly social with everyone so I'm thinking they met in like fourth year during potions when she had a vision that his potion was about to explode and she pulled him out of the way right before it did and then he was confused about how she knew that was going to happen and he kept bugging her about it for a while and finally she told him that she was a seer and they bonded over that and became friends.

they are both Gryffindors though Angel's a year behind him and they're friendly in the common room and get along well with each other.
